MikeD
Thanks for posting this article. Sounds like some good news for soccer in St. John's. Now cue the obligatory argument about FieldTurf... [V]
denis
The King George V Field is soccer only from what I can remember. I recall the original natural surface not being the best when they held the Challenge Cup a few years back, but why they would spend $'s putting in FieldTurf rather than improving the grass seems a little odd. hottoddy7
Putting in truf will extend our season at least on one pitch and that is the biggest single reason to install it. Keeping the fields in great shape here is not easy as there are only 6 or 8 fields used for all the mens and womens leagues from u-16 up. As well apparently the CSA guranteed the NSA international matches if we put in fieldturf and the NSA and St.John's senior soccer association believe that they could be money making ventures. Like the CSA guaranteed last month's U-17 Concacaf Qualifiers in Saint John, New Brunswick?
hottoddy7
Perhaps, I can only go on what I'm told.
Winnipeg Fury
I hope it happens. I would love to come out to the Maratimes for a World Cup Qualifying match.
MikeD
Technically, Newfoundland isn't part of the Maritimes. The term "Maritimes" refers to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island only. When you refer to the Maritimes as well as Newfoundland and Labrador, the correct term is Atlantic Canada.
